Government Funded Truck Licence

Government Funded Truck Licence – Guru Truck Driving School Sydney

What Is the Government Funded Truck Licence Program?
  • Singh Truck Driving School (through its RTO operations) has offered a government-backed funding initiative that covers 75% of truck licence training costs. ADT NSW

  • This funding aims to make it much more affordable for eligible people to train for heavy vehicle licences and join the transport industry. ADT NSW

  • Note: The funding program has very limited slots, and as per the current ALLTRUCK-/ADT-NSW page, applications are closed.

Eligibility Criteria for Funding

To qualify for the 75%-funded licence training, you needed to meet all the following conditions: ADT NSW

  1. Age Requirement

    • You must be 40 years or older. ADT NSW

  2. Residency

    • Be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident. ADT NSW

  3. Employment / Income Status

    • Currently employed but at risk of entering the income-support system, or

    • Recently unemployed (within the last 12 months) and not registered with a federal employment services provider. ADT NSW

  4. Skills Checkpoint Assessment

How the Application Process Worked

  • Once you provided your full name, email, and phone number, a representative from the training organisation (like Guru Truck Driving School / ALLTRUCK Driver Training) would contact you to help complete your application. ADT NSW

  • Funding approval was required before beginning the course. ADT NSW

  • Because funding is limited, spots were very competitive, and offers could be changed or withdrawn. ADT NSW

  • For questions or to check for future funding: call 1300 521 289 (the number listed on the ADT-NSW page) or email info@adt.nsw.edu.au

Important Notes & Caveats

  • Even though that particular funding round is currently closed, Singh Truck Driving School encourages interested candidates to register their interest — any future funding (or similar programs) may open again.

  • Use of such funding may restrict your ability to use other government subsidies or funding programs — check with the training provider for current terms. ADT NSW+1

  • The training under this program is aligned with the Heavy Vehicle Competency Based Assessment (HVCBA) scheme used in NSW. NSW Government+1

  • If you undergo HVCBA, you will need a logbook to record your mandatory training hours, and you must pass a Final Competency Assessment (FCA) with a Transport-accredited assessor. NSW Government

Why This Funding Program Matters

  • Reduces Financial Barrier: By covering 75% of the cost, the program made it much easier for people (especially older workers) to access heavy-vehicle training. ADT NSW

  • Supports Workforce Growth: With a global shortage of qualified truck drivers, such funding helps grow the professional driving workforce.

  • Encourages Upskilling: Enables people who already have a driver’s licence to upgrade to heavy vehicle licences (MR, HR, HC) without bearing the full cost.

  • Flexible Training: Because training is done via HVCBA, learners can choose their own RTO, select their vehicle type (rigid or combination), and book assessments at convenient times. NSW Government
